Elfsight alternative: Reviews Widget vs Elfsight in 2026

Last verified 31 July 2026

Reviews Widget and Elfsight both embed reviews on any website with a single script tag. The differences are how many sources render in one widget, whether star rich snippets ship on the free plan, and how pricing scales as you add sites. Here's a side-by-side breakdown for 2026.

Last reviewed by the Reviews Widget product team.

Verdict at a glance

Choose Reviews Widget if reviews are the job: every plan aggregates Google, Trustpilot, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Facebook, Booking.com, Airbnb, Amazon, ProductReview.com.au, G2, Etsy, Capterra, App Store, Google Play, Expedia, OpenTable and eBay into one widget with tab filters, outputs review schema, and has no monthly view cap. Choose Elfsight if you want one subscription covering forms, feeds, chat and reviews together, and 200 free views a month is enough while you evaluate.

How we compared

Every Elfsight figure on this page was read from Elfsight's own published pricing page on 31 July 2026 and stored in one shared data file, so the table, plan ladder and FAQ can never drift apart. Feature claims come from each vendor's public documentation, and the Reviews Widget behaviour described here is what our own product does today — we build it, so treat this as a vendor comparison written by an interested party and verify anything decision-critical against the links at the bottom of the page. Where Elfsight is genuinely the better choice, we say so.

Setup and time-to-embed

Both tools install with a single embed. Reviews Widget takes the review-source URL (or the business name), auto-detects the platform and starts scraping. Elfsight uses a template gallery then asks you to paste the source URL. Time-to-embed is roughly equivalent — a few minutes on either.

Review sources in one widget

Reviews Widget aggregates Google, Trustpilot, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Facebook, Booking.com, Airbnb, Amazon, ProductReview.com.au, G2, Etsy, Capterra, App Store, Google Play, Expedia, OpenTable and eBay into one widget with a tab bar (All, Google, Trustpilot, …) and one merged aggregate rating. Elfsight typically ties one widget to one source, so businesses reviewed on multiple platforms often need to stack widgets. See how it works on the multi-platform reviews page.

Customisation

Both cover colours, columns, corners and fonts. Reviews Widget adds container-query layout (so the widget adapts to the container width, not the viewport), curated presets — Midnight Indigo, Sunset Coral, Editorial Serif, Neon Noir — and per-device carousel per-view controls capped at 3 for readability. Read the deep dive at customisation.

SEO and review schema

Reviews Widget injects Review and AggregateRating structured data on the host page on every plan; Elfsight ships schema on higher paid tiers only. The honest caveat, which most comparison pages skip: Google's structured data policy treats reviews about your own business published on your own site as self-serving, and self-serving reviews are not eligible for star rich results. Neither tool changes that. What the markup does do is describe your business entity clearly for search engines and AI answer engines, and both tools render reviews client-side, so the reviews themselves are a conversion asset rather than a ranking one. Read the full explanation on review schema explained and the implementation detail on star rich snippets.

Pricing in 2026

Reviews Widget offers a free-forever plan with unlimited views and paid plans that scale by review sources, not by widget count. Elfsight's free tier allows 200 widget views a month on a single widget and displays branding. Its paid ladder, as published on 31 July 2026, runs from US$4/month (Basic, billed yearly) to US$24/month (Enterprise T1), with views and widget count as the scaling levers. For sites running one or two review widgets across many pages, Reviews Widget is generally cheaper. See Reviews Widget pricing.

Migrating from Elfsight, step by step

There is no review data to export. Reviews are pulled live from the source platform, so switching is a swap of one script tag for another — usually under ten minutes.

  1. Create a free Reviews Widget account and start a grid.
  2. Paste your Google Maps listing URL (or search your business name) and add any Trustpilot, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Facebook, Booking.com, Airbnb, Amazon, ProductReview.com.au, G2, Etsy or any other paid sources to the same grid.
  3. Match your existing look in the design panel — colours, corners, layout, header text — using the live preview.
  4. Copy the script tag and paste it where the Elfsight embed sits, then delete the Elfsight block.
  5. Load the page, confirm reviews and tabs render, and check the JSON-LD with Google's Rich Results Test.
  6. Leave the Elfsight subscription active for a day or two, then cancel once you're happy.

Platform-specific instructions are in the embed guides.

When to choose Elfsight

Elfsight has a much broader widget catalogue beyond reviews — forms, feeds, chats, timelines, popups — around 90+ widget types. If you want one vendor for a whole toolbox of embeds and reviews is only part of the picture, Elfsight's bundle can be simpler than assembling specialists. Reviews Widget is deliberately reviews-only, which is why it goes deeper on multi-source aggregation, rich snippets and manual review moderation.

Frequently asked questions

Is Reviews Widget cheaper than Elfsight?+

Reviews Widget has a permanent free tier that includes Google reviews and a single embed with unlimited views. Elfsight's free plan allows 200 widget views a month on one widget and shows Elfsight branding; paid tiers start at US$4/month billed yearly (Basic, 5,000 views and 3 widgets) and scale by widget count and views — Pro US$8/month, Premium US$16/month, Enterprise T1 US$24/month. Figures verified 31 July 2026.

Does Elfsight support the same review sources?+

Elfsight offers reviews from Google, Facebook, Yelp, TripAdvisor and Trustpilot, similar to Reviews Widget. Reviews Widget adds a unified tab bar so all sources render inside one widget with one aggregate rating, whereas Elfsight typically ties one widget to one source.

Which one is better for SEO?+

Both render reviews client-side, so neither is an SEO shortcut. Reviews Widget injects Review and AggregateRating JSON-LD on the host page on every plan; Elfsight reserves review schema for paid tiers. Be realistic about the payoff: Google treats reviews about your own business published on your own site as self-serving, and those are not eligible for star rich results. The schema still helps machines and AI answer engines understand your business entity, and the on-page reviews themselves help conversion.

Can I move from Elfsight to Reviews Widget without losing my reviews?+

Yes. Reviews pull directly from the source platform (Google, Trustpilot, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Facebook, Booking.com, Airbnb, Amazon, ProductReview.com.au, G2, Etsy, Capterra, App Store, Google Play, Expedia, OpenTable and eBay), so you don't migrate review data — you just add the listing URL in Reviews Widget and replace the Elfsight embed with the new script tag.

Does Elfsight or Reviews Widget offer a floating star rating badge?+

Both do. Reviews Widget's badge opens a Shadow-DOM popup with your full review list and the same tab filters as the grid layout, keeping brand styling consistent across the badge and the popup.
