Google reviews WordPress plugin for WooCommerce: Google, Trustpilot and native reviews together

By The Reviews Widget product team9 min read

You don't need a separate Google reviews WordPress plugin to combine review types on WooCommerce. Keep WooCommerce's native reviews for product pages, and embed a widget that shows Google and Trustpilot reviews for store-wide trust. Each review type answers a different shopper question, so place them where that question comes up.

Three kinds of reviews, three different jobs

A WooCommerce store can show three kinds of reviews. Mixing them up is the most common mistake, because each one answers a different question for the shopper.

Customer reviews for WooCommerce stores

Native WooCommerce product reviewsIs this product any good?Product pages
Google reviewsIs this business real and reliable?Home page, about, contact, footer
Trustpilot reviewsWill this store deliver and support me?Cart, checkout, shipping pages

How to add reviews in WooCommerce

Native product reviews are built in. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Products and find the reviews options.

  • Enable product reviews to show a Reviews tab on product pages.
  • Show "verified owner" label to mark reviews from confirmed buyers.
  • Reviews can only be left by verified owners to block anonymous reviews.
  • Enable star rating, and optionally make the rating required.

These reviews live in your WordPress database, so they only appear on your own site. New stores often have few of them, which is why outside reviews help.

Google reviews WordPress plugin or embed?

Searches for a Google reviews WordPress plugin usually lead to plugins that call Google on your server. They work, but each plugin adds updates, settings and possible conflicts. An embedded Google reviews widget for WordPress runs outside WordPress, so it doesn't slow your admin or need security patches.

Trustpilot for WooCommerce

Trustpilot WordPress plugin options

Trustpilot's official WooCommerce integration sends review invitations automatically after orders and can collect product reviews too. It also adds TrustBox widgets. Those reviews stay on Trustpilot and are separate from your native product reviews.

If you already collect Trustpilot reviews, you can show them beside your Google reviews in one widget. Learn more about showing Trustpilot reviews on your store.

Combine Google and Trustpilot in one widget

Connect both sources, pick a layout and paste it into WooCommerce, Gutenberg or Elementor.

Using Elementor to place reviews

Many WooCommerce stores use Elementor. To add a reviews widget in Elementor, drag the HTML widget into a section and paste your snippet. This works in Elementor's free version, so you don't need a separate Elementor Google reviews plugin.

Where to place each review type

  • Home page hero or just below it: a Google rating badge or carousel.
  • Product templates: native reviews in the tab, with a small store-rating badge near Add to cart.
  • Cart and checkout: a short Trustpilot or Google strip to ease last-minute doubt.

Avoid schema conflicts

WooCommerce already outputs product rating markup for native reviews. Don't add a second Product rating from a widget on the same page, or Google may see conflicting data.

Quick setup checklist

  1. Turn on native reviews, star ratings and the verified owner label.
  2. Create one widget with your Google and Trustpilot sources.
  3. Add a carousel or grid to the home page and a badge to product and checkout templates.
  4. Check pages on a phone for layout and speed.
  5. Keep asking every genuine customer for a review after delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add reviews in WooCommerce?+

Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Products and turn on product reviews and star ratings. Customers can then review products on each product page. You can also show a 'verified owner' label and limit reviews to buyers.

Is there a free Google reviews WordPress plugin?+

Yes, several free plugins exist on WordPress.org, but you don't need one. A review widget's embed code works in a Custom HTML block, a shortcode area or an Elementor HTML widget, and shows your Google reviews without adding plugin overhead.

Does Trustpilot work with WooCommerce?+

Yes. Trustpilot has an official WooCommerce integration that sends review invitations after purchases and adds TrustBox widgets. Its reviews stay separate from native WooCommerce product reviews.

Do I need the Trustpilot WordPress plugin for WooCommerce?+

Only if you want Trustpilot to send automatic review invitations after orders. To simply display Trustpilot reviews, a review widget's embed code works without installing the plugin.

Should I show Google reviews or WooCommerce product reviews?+

Both, in different places. Product reviews answer 'is this product good?' on product pages. Google and Trustpilot reviews answer 'can I trust this store?' on the home page, cart and checkout.

Can I add Google reviews with Elementor?+

Yes. Drag Elementor's HTML widget into your section and paste the review widget snippet. It works in Elementor's free version and in theme builder templates.

Will Google show stars for my store reviews?+

Not for reviews about your own business. Google treats LocalBusiness and Organization reviews on your own site as self-serving. Product review markup can be eligible, but stars are never guaranteed.
